Manifest Destiny: Why Colorado & America needs to vote Unaffiliated
Is the two party system broken?
Many people are staunch Republican or staunch Democrat who vote the party line only to be disappointed due to the lack of accountability, the undeliverable promises and what appears to simply be “Rubber Stamping” the party line. Maybe, its time we had more choices. Voting Unaffiliated nonpartisan may be the answer as history has shown us in the past.
Manifest Destiny, or the divine inspiration that drove America to its exceptionalism, has always been a part of our tradition and values. As our forefathers drove across the Great American Desert, known as the plains on our eastern portion of our state, they settled and formed what we call Colorado today. On both sides of the Rockies, we are well rooted in those early values of Republicanism,” a strong sense of Country, Church, Community and Family. Then as today, the individual ruggedness is more than one who is sitting on a fence. As a result, it is not deeply embedded into a party of politics but one of reason, consideration and evaluation. More often than not, one’s objection generally is a non-vote.
Today, we see a two party system that has strayed away from our traditional notions of substantial justice and fairplay. Everyday we are lied to by politicians who are driven by special interests with little, if any regard to what those who voted for them want, believe or desire. For decades a majority of those of us in Colorado have chosen not to vote for the lesser of two evils, but to not vote at all, as a sign of protest against a system gone bad. This behavior has not only spread to our state but is endemic throughout the U.S. Lobbyist draws politicians like flies on cow-diddy.
We need to look at our Nation’s past to find the answers. As the Country sought it’s Independence and then wrestled with the construction of our Constitution, it became clear that our Nation should not have power concentrated into a few, as that is where tyrannical rule develops. Even as our Nation was proceeding towards a Civil War, there were more than four political parties. Again, as we approached the twentieth century, we were again faced with our destiny to expand beyond our continental borders, and again the divisionalism of the political parties allowed our country to move forward into new frontiers.
Now, in the 21st Century, we are faced with a most urgent crisis. Our two party system is locked in constant struggles at partisanship, fully committed to “rubber stamping” the party line, and embracing not only special interests but embarking on a road of not only out of control spending but one which many argue run counter to our foundations and beliefs. Colorado and America needs to vote Unaffiliated in 2010. Not as a matter of protest but as a matter of breaking the political gridlock.
This is not a matter of leaving your trust only in God. A vote for an Unaffiliated candidate in 2010 will be a vote not wasted. The moment in history is today. Take a part in personally making it happen. America and Colorado needs to have one who will not caucus with one side or another, but will be a voice of reason and compromise. The cycle does not need to continue to spin out of control. This vision has always been with us. Our destiny is clear. We have manifested destiny, and as Americans, we have created our better future, and now, is that moment.
Vote for an Unaffiliated in 2010. The power of prayer is true, God bless America, and God bless you.
A Vote for me is NOT! A vote that is wasted, or a vote for the other party or even a protest vote, its a vote to really change America, this nation and Colorado!
