Who is Charley Miller?

Charley is the best of what Colorado and America has to offer: a small business owner; family and community orientated. No silver spoon in his mouth when he was born, like the rest of us starting at the bottom, overcoming adversity, and making the best of an American life for everyone around him. He’s a student of history, law and has always been an advocate and champion for our children, in the past, present and for the future.

His father, a thirty year veteran of our wars, and his mother both survived World War II, they taught him what we all know, America is the greatest country in the world and he is concerned that Colorado, Washington D.C. and the two-party system has lost their way.

Charley has lived in Colorado for over ten years, and loves the State and people of Colorado. He’s attended both the University of Northern Colorado and the University of Denver, where he completed a Masters in History and a Juris Doctorate in Law. He also holds a United States Green Building Council (USGBC) certification for LEED AP in New Building and Design, allowing him to promote green, sustainable environmental ideas, for our natural resources and to ensure they are there for our children’s future.

Charley attended high school in Washington, and achieved a varsity letter in both swimming and chess. He was a key member in various clubs such as the Debate, Russian, Model United Nations. Outdoor Education, Boys Scouts, and Civil Air Patrol. He attended Washington State University, where he joined the ROTC, Model United Nations, various other clubs and organizations, such as the law committee for NORMAL. He became a proud member of the fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta.

He served in the Air force and the Air National Guard, where he achieved several leadership positions and awards during his six years of service.

He has always wrestled with the 800-pound gorilla in the room in his life.

He relocated his family to Phoenix, Arizona where he developed a software consulting business and worked as a contractor at the Palo Verde Nuclear Plant. After that, he worked in the banking industry for the next three years during one of the worst economic crises our country has faced until today.

Charley worked on the final bid evaluation that was at the end of the Saving & Loan crisis, a sale that almost topple $5 billion, not a blank check bailout, like we see today. These were the worst of times for many families, including Charley’s. His marriage didn’t survive it, and the months to come would present Charley with his biggest challenge ever.

Like many of those American soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan who survived the devastated explosion of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), Charley in 1991, suffered a similar injury, TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury). However, he knows from personal experience that overcoming Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) demonstrates one’s courage, strength, motivation and success at beating a 800-pound gorilla.

In 2000, the 21st century, he began here in Colorado, a grass-roots community group or association, known as the Concerned Citizens for Cohesive Neighborhoods ( CCCN), in a effort to address some local issues in a non-partisan way, with the main mission and goal of full involvement across all classes, races, ethnicities and political groups. It worked!

While some during this time argued that the 800-pound gorilla was the “good old boy network with big developers and the city,” Charley proved that he could direct positive change across all obstacles to make a difference. This same message and ability he will deliver to the US Senate and Washington. No one from either the Republican or Democrat parties can do this, all they can and will do is “rubber stamp” the party line, you know this.

Charley is dedicated to his life goals of helping others, and designing our children’s future, through vision, green sustainable living and tackling the hard issues on a real basis. He is a past volunteer as a court appointed special advocate for children (CASA), where he saw the destructive things that are tearing many families apart and how it effects the children of those broken homes.

Charley lives in Littleton, Colorado with his partner, Dee, where she is working as his campaign manager, and they regularly attend Mile High Church in Lakewood. He has two children Jacob, 27 and Michelle, 25 who live in Arizona and New Mexico.

He is currently the executive director of a non-profit 501(c)(3) dedicated to green living, education and information for bettering communities on sustainability. He is a hard-working, dedicated individual , not a career politician. His entrance into politics is indicative of his life work: a desire to diagnose problems and provide practical solutions, and, most certainly, to tackle and wrestling with the 800-pound gorillas.

A Vote for me is NOT! A vote that is wasted, or a vote for the other party or even a protest vote, its a vote to really change America, this nation and Colorado!
